Award Winning Technologies included in Diskeeper 2012 IntelliWrite™ - is a technology engineered by Diskeeper corporation to prevent up to 85% of the fragmentation that all computers and servers suffer from. Intelligently, the technology writes all files contiguous to the hard disk so system resources are not wasted processing unnecessary fragmentation. By preventing the build up of fragmentation before it happens, you can expect a new level of speed and efficiency. Instant Defrag™ engine(New): A new technology that immediately defrags newly created files before the system can read them. The result is a finely tuned machine always running a peak performance automatically! Combined with the IntelliWrite Technology, the new Instant Defrag engine means your systems will never experience reduced performance as a result of file fragmentation! Efficient Mode (New): A new enhancement to the latest edition of Diskeeper that has the smarts to know what fragmentation is directly affecting performance and immediately resolve to free system resources. Free space consolidation engine (New): An advanced technology to consolidate free space found between file fragmentation (also known as free space fragmentation). This particular engine also integrates tightly with Instant Defrag. I-FAAST - is a technology that positions your most important / commonly used files to the fastest location on your hard disc.
The Dashboard - an easy-to-use consol, displays real-time details about automatic defragmentation, the health of your volumes, the idle resources being used to accelerate volume performance, and other useful defragmentation information. Hardware Support
Diskeeper runs on the Intel® x86 platforms (including compatible CPUs from other manufacturers). Disk size limits:
Disk subsystems supported:
Resource Requirements
The disk space requirements for Diskeeper depend on several factors. The Diskeeper installation package is about 60 MB. After the installation is complete, Diskeeper occupies about 38 MB of disk space. If Internet Explorer is not present on your computer, some other needed files (hhupd.exe, 50comupd.exe, and wintdist.exe) may be added. Further, your system may require a new or updated version of the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), which is less than 6 MB.
Additional Software Requirements
Diskeeper relies on the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). The MMC provides a single point of control for system utilities such as Diskeeper. The MMC is used as a central location for a variety of Microsoft and third party administrative tools. The MMC is included in Microsoft Windows 2000 and newer Windows operating systems.
A Note About Firewalls
As a normal part of its operation, the Diskeeper Service (DkService.exe) acts as a server on your system. If you are running a hardware or software firewall, you may see messages indicating Diskeeper Service is trying to act as a server. These messages are expected; you can safely allow these events. This functionality is designed to allow for support for network operations (e.g. Remote Control) via Diskeeper Administrator.
You may also be notified that Diskeeper is trying to access the Internet. It is important to note that Diskeeper does not access the Internet (except when you specifically use the Check for Updates feature), but it does use Windows mechanisms that may trigger these alerts from your firewall. Again, these messages are expected and you can safely allow the events. If networkability or automatic update checking is not required, you can safely disable this. Diskeeper® supports the Microsoft® NTFS (New Technology File System), FAT16 (File Allocation Table) and FAT32 file system formats.
Supported File Systems
Diskeeper® supports the Microsoft® NTFS (New Technology File System), FAT16 (File Allocation Table) and FAT32 file system formats. Operating system support
Note: Supports both 32 and 64 bit Windows
Testimonials
"From my experience Diskeeper made our work easier because we don’t need to worry about fragmentation any more. It helped reduce the maintenance hours on our servers. The problem we had before Diskeeper was the time we had to spend to defragment our servers and low performance on the hard disks. We have noticed a better performance with Diskeeper.."
Luciano Vieira | Network Supervisor, Law In Order, Innovative Document Solutions
"Our Diskeeper software continues to do exactly what we need – it keeps all our drives defragmented and it’s so unobtrusive I honestly forget that it’s running most days. As far as making work easier, Diskeeper definitely kicks a goal there too. I don’t have to perform monthly manual defrags on 10 computers anymore. I just check the fragmentation status occasionally to make sure that Diskeeper is working, and it always is! Prior to installing Diskeeper our hard drives would fragment very quickly. This is because we acquire real-time data from scientific instruments and then automatically transfer the data from each local PC to a central server for backup. As the disks on each local PC became more fragmented it was harder to write the data at the required speed, leading to errors and program crashes.
Philip Wright | Senior Research Scientist, Biota Scientific Management Pty Ltd
"We use Diskeeper on our central backup system. We do this because it has large disks and the speed of data transfer drops to/from those disks as they become fragmented. This means that the day time copy of data to our tape drive runs much more quickly. Diskeeper is installed – it gives us no problems – it works".
Richard Finlay | IS Project Manager, NZ Public Service Association "Diskeeper has improved server performance and reduce fragmented files since upgrading the latest version. No real server problems experienced, they were just not as optimal as they should be in regards to file management and performance. They are Windows Std 2003 and Windows Std/Data Centre 2008. We are finding the Diskeeper Administrator to be helpful, with the report each Monday that shows improved performance. The Administrator sure does make it easier to administer and manage. I especially like the network scan to see all workstation fragmentation".
Joe Esposito | National IT Manager, P&N Beverages Australia Pty Ltd "The backups were running well into business hours (approx. 12 hrs) and hadn’t completed successfully for a long time. Since Diskeeper has been installed, not only has the fragmentation gone from totally red to completely blue, the backups are finishing well within its window (approx .4 hrs)"
Brad Clark, Senior Systems Administrator - Intel Services, Harvey Norman
“Since installing Diskeeper, I have seen a lot less tickets relating to blue screens or extremely poor performance due to corrupt files and extreme defragmentation. Also the users are generally happier about their computers because they don’t have to wait for so long for their computers to load or process tasks.”
Robert Keegan, IT Support, Lynch Group
"We installed Diskeeper 3 months ago to deal with an issue of a poorly fragmented file system on one of our high end production MSSQL 2005 server boxes. We had tried various different ways of defragging the files system using the windows defrag utility and had found that we could not really improve the fragmentation of the drive. Also the method of how we try to improve the fragmentation of the file system was time consuming and also meant downtime in some occasions.
Diskeeper is a good product and I would recommend it! It doesn’t have any impact on the operating system and the automatic defragging using InvisiTasking, which is a great technology and puts your mind at rest."
Oliver Leach, Systems Administrator, Gadens Lawyers
"Before I purchased Diskeeper we were spending a lot of downtime defragmenting with the Windows supplied tool which is very slow. Diskeeper works so much more quickly and setting it to automatic defragmentation means it is one more management process I don’t have to think about."
Roger Lee, Geodata Australia "I am indeed running Diskeeper 2010 and have certainly seen an improvement across my servers in terms of fragmentation, and also a reduced backup Window (faster backups) due to this."
Paul Clifford, IT Manager, Okuma Australia Pty Ltd
"We are using the copies of Diskeeper on our SQL servers as we have a lot of transactions passing through. We re-index the SQL databases once per week as a SQL command to keep the speed nice. Prior to Diskeeper we had a very, very fragmented disk and had to manually run a defrag after hours which was not productive for the most part, as it ran too long before backups hit, so while we whittled it down slowly it took far too long to defrag and then you had to start again. With Diskeeper it is a set and forget and fragmentation is kept under control."
Peter Scott, Information Systems Manager; Make-A-Wish® Australia
"I would be more than happy to provide a reference. We have upgraded our servers to Diskeeper 2010. The new visual and graphical displays do provide a very quick and up-to-date view of what is happening. We are very happy with the overall product and have been for quite some time.
We have Diskeeper running with Exchange 2003, SQL 2005 and on our File and Print Server. As servers have been upgraded in the past (i.e. SQL 2000 to SQL 2008) Diskeeper has seamlessly been reinstalled with no concerns."
Micheal Nolton, IT Manager, Mrs Mac's Pty Ltd "The machines that we have Diskeeper on are XP or Windows 7 operating systems mainly running AutoCAD 2010. The automated features in Diskeeper 2010 have done a great job keeping the machines fine tuned. The fact that I haven't had to do any additional manual defragments, or experienced any machine slowdowns, would indicate that the Intelliwrite technology is working well..." if it isn't broken, don't fix it". I have tried the built-in defragger that Windows comes with has very limited in its capabilities, and compared to previous versions of Diskeeper, the 2010 edition is certainly the best so far. No problems with posting the testimonial. I'm more than happy to recommend a good product."

Dear Graeme
In a world where complaints are much more common than compliments, I’d like to take a moment to congratulate Pixel IT for providing outstanding customer service. From my initial contact with Veronica, right through to making the purchase, I have been impressed with the follow-up, technical expertise and enthusiasm displayed by all the Pixel IT staff I have had contact with.
We have a highly volatile disk array which suffers from heavy defragmentation, and the technical team came up with a number of suggestions to help us find the right Diskeeper settings to keep it under control without compromising performance. Their follow-up and concern that we were happy with the product’s performance was the best I have encountered during my 20 years in the IT industry... and that was with the trial version!
Veronica is delightful to deal with – patient, concerned for our satisfaction with the product, and, once again exemplary follow-up. She even laughs at my lame jokes, so extra points for that! I would have no hesitation in recommending Pixel IT for their superior product knowledge, professionalism and customer service. Feel free to post this in a testimonials section (if you have one), and/or I would be happy to relate my experience to potential customers, if you would like me to.
Please pass on this “positive vibe” to your staff.
Shane Wilkinson, Office Administrator, Newstyle Printing Co Pty Ltd
"I became aware of Diskeeper from an article in the London Financial Times. I ordered it immediately as I was having capacity and time problems with my over-used Dell laptop. The machine was transformed. I have the defrag routine set daily and it is like a new machine - much faster, fewer broadband set-up problems and less freezing. Diskeeper is an excellent product!"
Alan Clark, ACH, Geelong
"We have actually been using Diskeeper for many years. It is now installed on our Win 2000 server. The biggest benefit is that the user console on this version can be run on a terminal server session, whereas our old version didn’t work like this, and this makes remote administration a lot easier.
Remote administration has enabled the following:
· IT staff don’t have to stay around the business out of hours in order to do a boot time server defrag etc (now do it from home over the VPN). · IT users get increased system availability, since IT staff don’t pester them to get off systems so the boot time defrag can be done. · We can also stagger the boot time server defrags more easily, which reduces risk if a machine mis-behaves as a result. · Servers are generally performing better since we can do this more often with little effort.
Also the user interface and reporting is generally more friendly, which is nice. The file tidying process seems to be better at creating contiguous white space, which is always a bit of a problem with NTFS.
I have recommended this program to others for many years. The newest version works fine."
"My DK9 software is set up on my home PC, a P4 2.4GHz with 1GB RAM. I have two disc drives: an 80GB drive partitioned as C and D; and a 300GB drive as drive E. All are formatted as NTFS partitions. I have DK9 set up to run automatically in the background, and that's exactly what it does. Simply set-and-forget, which is exactly what a defrag or similar utility should be doing.
As for features? Well, given that everything is running perfectly, I'm happy with the way things are at the moment. In terms of performance enhancement, that's a more difficult question to answer, especially when we're not as concerned with metrics on a home machine as I would be with a nest of machines at the office (in which my machines of choice are all made by Sun Microsystems and run a reliable operating system called Solaris :-)
Apart from the usual home computing applications, I have my Bang & Olufsen audio/video systems linked in to the PC through Bang & Olufsen's USB adapter and their PC-Link software, through which I can rip my CD collection (hence the 300GB disc - but there are photos there as well as backups of my critical files from C and D). Clearly, the clean and stable serving of my music collection benfits from the work that DK9 is doing in the background.
I guess I'm just another happy Diskeeper customer to add to your list.
Cheers, and keep up the good work!"
Gary Speechley, DSTO Dept of Defence
"As an IT manager for various organisations I have used Diskeeper for nearly 10 years. Whilst Windows includes its own disk defragmenter, Diskeeper is much faster and does a far better job of de-fragmenting data. On file servers this is especially important as the data is dynamic and fragmentation occurs quickly. A noticeable reduction in file retrieval times is realised once Diskeeper has done its magic.
One of a simplest but most powerful options of Diskeeper is the "Set it and forget it" feature. A few clicks of the mouse and your systems will automatically defragment themselves regularly, with no further intervention, thus keeping the disk sub-system working at peak efficiency."
Martin Crockett, ITC Manager, Saint Peters College
"I am currently using Diskeeper at my home and I have noticed a great improvement in my PC’s operational speed. This was the main reason for my purchase and I’m totally satisfied."
Jim Baker, Westpac Banking Corporation
"I'm extremely happy with the product, specially the "set it and forget it" feature, and within that the "smart schedule" I have it setup on five Windows 2000 servers. I would definitively recommend Diskeeper to my clients and friends."
Robert Giron, Dental Health Services Victoria
“Put simply, Diskeeper is the only product that we can truly “set and forget”. Installation & configuration is totally automated and most of the time we forget it’s even there. We never worry about performance degradation and it actually defragments the entire drive. Very rarely does a product achieve its marketing guff. It worked first time, every time - without fuss or fail”
Arkin Kavaz, IT Administrator, Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance
